Mall Makeover

Finally my rat ass mall is undergoing redevelopment, inside and out! The mayor came out and did a ground breaking. It's not that I don't find it exciting, it's just it might be a day late and dollar short for some of the retailers, my store included. I remain cautiously optimistic that we will survive it all, we've made it this far with B&N half a mile up the street and Borders directly across the street. I'm quite like my store: I may not have the best prices and my fixtures are a bit beaten down and ratty and I don't carry half the titles that the Super Stores have.....but damn if it ain't a thrill to shop in my store! My staff is knowledgeable and courteous, I myself can tell you if the book is in the store and on what shelf rests without the use of my computers database (I'm a fucking marvel)! It gets more difficult to compete when everyone in retail carries books now, but we will persevere and I pray that we make it through this period of renovation. As my boss says, something has to give by the Holiday season to entice the big bosses into staying at this Mall. Ack.....Whatever will be will be! OMmmmmmMMMmmmMMmmmmm ;)
